The two houses scheduled for demolition are located in Rawaii
More than 200 sea gypsies gathered outside two houses in Rawaii that preventing its demolition by city officials.
The officials are now preparing to file complaints of land encroachment against the protestors.
According to the Phuket Gazette, the land belonged to Suthep and Thawee Mookdee who had rented it out to the sea gypsies. The gypsies then built a house on it.
“After seeing that they were not maintaining the area well, we wished to stop renting to them, but they would not leave. That is when the problems started. We filed a court case and followed all the legal processes to remove them from the land. After an eight-year court case, we were finally granted victory,” said Mr Suthep to the Gazette.

A judge ruled in favor of the owners and ordered the houses to be demolished in 2015 but to no avail. The Legal Execution Department officers had to place a court notice on the property.
Mr Suthep pleaded, “We are not bullying them – in fact, they are bullying us. This is a court order, but they have no regard for that. We have filed two other complaints against them for land encroachment and for preventing officers from performing their duty.”
The owners of the house, Maren and Anan Bangjak have refused to budge claiming that had lived there for years and should not be made to move.
