The government of California passed a bill recently that will give those facing eviction more time to make their owed payments.
The bill, signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, states that weekends and holidays do not count toward the time that tenants are required to respond to an eviction notice.
Also, the legislation affords tenants three days to pay their owed rend as well as five days to respond to an eviction lawsuit.
According to the author of the bill, the few extra days provided by the new law could make all the difference in helping California residents keep their home, instead of becoming homeless.
